Academic Events
Some regular events on the TUMSS academic calendar include:
Careers Night
Come and hear from doctors and surgeons discussing some of the pathways you can take after finishing your degree. Each year sees a different selection of fascinating speakers so it’s good to get along as often as you can to learn about your options and keep motivated!
Another great resource to learn about careers is the AMA Specialty Training Pathway Guide. Students who join AMSA also get AMA membership, so if you want to access this and other AMA resources you should consider signing up to AMSA!
Electives Night
Learn about the opportunities on offer for elective at the end of fourth year. Students will present their experiences from around Australia and the world to give you insight into some of the exciting places and specialties you can explore! See the Electives Database for more information about where students have gone.
AMSA ThinkTanks
Throughout the year, AMSA holds several councils in which policy is discussed and voted on by representatives of the various medical student societies around Australia. ThinkTanks are an opportunity to work with the TUMSS AMSA Representative and other students to analyse draft policies, make suggestions and guide TUMSS voting decisions. This gives all medical students the opportunity to have a say in the advocacy of AMSA.
At most events there is the opportunity to talk with presenters individually. There may also be stalls from presenters, free merchandise and food!
